Memoria North Oxfordshire and Memoria Faversham and Mid Kent have achieved the Greener Globe Trusted Crematorium Platinum Award, the highest accreditation possible for sustainability.

To achieve this award, our crematoria passed a rigorous, independent sustainability audit conducted by qualified assessors. This means every time you choose one of these Platinum crematoria you are actively reducing your own carbon footprint.

How we reduce our carbon footprint

UK’s first electric cremator: Memoria was the first funeral provider in the UK to install an electric cremator, significantly reducing carbon emissions compared to traditional gas cremation.

Leading adoption: 27% of Memoria crematoria now operate electric cremators (Faverham, Doncaster, North Oxfordshire), more than any other funeral provider in the UK. Learn more about our crematoria.
Mercury abatement: Memoria was the first funeral provider in the UK to implement a mercury abatement programme, reducing the release of mercury into the atmosphere during cremation.
Biodegradable urns: The urns supplied as part of our direct cremation plans are fully biodegradable.
Annual carbon review: We review our carbon footprint annually and actively look for ways to reduce our environmental impact.
