How It Works

We are here from the first call

When you get in touch, we’ll listen to what you need and guide you through each step. We’ll take care of the paperwork and arrange collection, making sure your loved one is cared for gently and respectfully.

We carry out the cremation

The cremation will take place at one of our Memoria crematoria. Your loved one will rest in a simple coffin, and everything will be carried out with the care and respect they deserve.

We return or scatter the ashes

When the cremation is complete, you can choose what feels right – having the ashes returned in a simple container, hand delivered to you, or scattered in our gardens of remembrance.

Simple and affordable

A direct cremation is a simple, no fuss funeral, at a crematorium, but without any family or friends in attendance. There is no service. This removes traditional funeral directors’ fees, hearses and expenses like flowers or celebrants, it is a straightforward option that keeps costs low without compromising on care.

This approach is far less expensive than a traditional funeral and allows you the space and freedom to remember your loved one in your own way. A Memoria Funerals direct cremation could save you up to £2,000 against a traditional attended funeral.

Frequently Asked Questions

A direct cremation is a simple cremation without a service or mourners present. Your loved one is cared for with dignity, the cremation takes place, and the ashes are either returned to you or scattered, depending on your wishes. Many families choose this option because it allows them to say goodbye in their own way and at a time that feels right.

A standard direct cremation is unattended. However, at Memoria we offer options for a small, private farewell at the crematorium if you wish to be present. This means you can still have a moment of reflection without the cost or formality of a traditional funeral.

Our direct cremation costs start from £1,145.00, with no hidden fees. The price includes collection, care, cremation, and the provision or scattering of ashes. Optional extras, such as hand delivery of ashes, are also available.

All cremations are carried out at one of Memoria Funerals crematoria across the UK. While it may not always be the nearest to your home, you can be assured the same high standard of care at every location.

After the cremation, we can return the ashes to you in a simple container, arrange hand delivery, or scatter them in the crematorium’s gardens of remembrance. We’ll discuss the options with you so you can choose what feels most meaningful.
